Highlights from the Textile Society of America’s Symposium

A lively marketplace accompanied the symposium and featured new and old textiles, books and more! (Photograph by Ann Svenson).

Organized by Chris Martens, the panel Central Asian Textiles: Politics and Process was particularly stimulating with papers by Elmira Gyul, Irina Bogoslovskaya, Stephanie Bunn, and David and Sue Richardson. The panel was well conceived and resulted in a standing-room-only crowd!

The Textile Society of America’s Biennial Symposium, Textiles and Politics, was held in Washington DC 19-23 September 2012. The symposium included 150 presentations spread over three days.

The Textile Society of America’s 13th Biennial Symposium “Textiles and Politics” will take place 19-22 September 2012 in Washington DC. Jozan Magazine has asked Michele Hardy, TSA Director of External Relations, to tell more about this interesting event.

Workshop on Tuduc Rugs 11 February in San Francisco

San Francisco Bay Area Rug Society and Peter Pap Oriental Rugs has arranged a workshop on Tuduc Rugs. This workshop will take place Saturday 11 February 2012, 11.30 am at 470 Jackson Street in San Francisco. Stefano Ionescu will talk on Tuduc forgeries in European and American collections, presenting about 80 slides on significant facts about Tuduc and his rugs.
