Sothebys auction Arts of The Islamic World took place 6 April 2011 in London and included 34 carpets which were all sold.
Among the carpets where two Persian Safavid carpets which drew special attention and reached the highest prices.
A 17th century Safavid Vase carpet, lot 456, which reached a price of 229,250 GBP compared with an estimate of 100,000 – 120,000 GBP. And another late 17th or early 18th century Safavid Vase carpet, lot 467, which reached 73,250 GBP compared with an estimate of 40,000 – 60,000 GBP.
