DESCRIPTION: A good Hetian (Khotan) rug, Xinjiang (East Turkestan), 19th century, 6ft.1 in. x 4ft. 1.86m. x 1.22m. £500-700
Overall even wear, Although the Yun Tsai T’ou main border pattern is characteristic of Khotan rugs it is fairly unusual to find it on rugs with the ‘triple medallion’ pattern; it is invariably associated with the floral guard pattern seen here also.

DESCRIPTION: A good Yomut Turkmen asmalyk, Turkmenistan second half 19th century, 2ft.2in. x 3ft.9in. 0.66m. x 1.14m. Slight even wear. The slight indentation either side of the upper ‘point’ suggests that this might almost be included among the rare group of seven-sided asmalyks. Note the unusual shade of yellow. £700-900

One or two very small areas of slight wear, small distressed area lower right edge. A Baluch of unusual colour and design. The main border is associated not only with so-called Timuri carpets but also to a group of probably west Afghani prayer rugs.
