“A few days ago, President Obama signed into effect tougher sanctions against Iran. The word is that a trade embargo on Persian rugs will return” says Hagop Manoyan, antique rug dealer from New York, to Jozan Magazine.

“This has not yet been confirmed, but I believe it will likely happen and be in place mid September. At which time, there will be no further importing of Iranian rugs, new or old into the United States”.

“There will be dealers that may try to increase the prices on their Iranian carpets – even though I feel it would be unwise” says Hagop Manoyan.
