Alberto Boralevi, the organizer of Saratirana Textile Show, has just released updates for the 8th edition of this interesting antique rug and textile show. This years show will run from Thursday 13 September to Sunday 16 September at Sartirana Castle.
Sartirana Textile Show 2012 will have another format than recent years. It will host a reduced number of exhibitors in larger spaces and with improved fittings, new exhibiting walls, new lighting system and wi-fi connections available in all stands. The intention for reducing the number of exbibitors is to secure and upgrade the quality of the show.
The show will be one day shorter than recent years, with the following schedule:
- Thursday 13 September Opening for the public: 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM (drinks and risotto will be served in the exhibiting halls)
- Friday 14 September 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- Saturday 15 September 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM
- Sunday 16 September 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
The show will be held in the upper floor of the Pila Building at Sartirana Castle, while the ground floor will be reserved to the special exhibition, to some technical stands showing carpet washing, security systems etc. and to other exhibits of Sartirana’s Permanent Collection.
The Special Exhibition will be devoted to Aleppo kilims and related textiles from private collections. There will be no lecture program but instead guided tours for groups of visitors. This tours will be leaded by Alberto Boralevi and other volunteer exhibitors.
“We are expecting a group of American Collectors and Textile Amateurs that will be travelling in Italy for a Textile Tour organized and conducted by Stefano Ionescu. Moreover there will be a visit of an Italian group belonging to the newly formed Cintamani Club of Pordenone leaded by the textile collector and exhibition organiser Dr. Carlo Scaramuzza” said Alberto Boralevi to Jozan Magazine.
About 30 international dealers will present the best of their collections, not only for sale, but also for showing rare and important pieces.
Antonello Vettoretti of Carpet Diem will present a selection of his personal collection of early Anatolian carpets and carpet fragments, including classical examples of Medallion and Star Ushaks and Lotto rugs.
Alberto Boralevi will present an outstanding late 18th c. Melas prayer rug and an extraordinary 17th/18th c. Caucasian, Harshang pattern carpet fragment. This carpet fragment was originally exhibited in Milan 1999 during the ICOC Conference and published in the related catalogue Sovrani Tappeti.
David Sorgato will show a collection of Avar kilims and pile rugs, some with previously unseen patterns.

Being held during only four show days the organizers are expecting very intense days of trade and cultural exchanges, enriched by the small but significant special exhibition of Aleppo kilims.
