The Textile Museum has named Parviz Tanavoli as the recipient of its 2026 George Hewitt Myers Award, given for lifetime contributions to the field of textile arts. The award is named for the museum’s founder and presented by its Board of Trustees.
Tanavoli is an artist, author, collector, ethnographer, lecturer, who has focused much of his work on Persian tribal textiles. He is the author or co-author of more than 40 publications, including Shahsavan: Iranian Rugs and Textiles, a widely cited reference on the weavings of that nomadic confederation.
Tanavoli joins a list of past recipients recognized for their contributions to textile scholarship and collecting.
