R. John Howe was a forthright authority on Oriental rugs and textiles who documented the Textile Museum’s Rug & Textile Appreciation Morning programs for over a decade. In 2015 R. John Howe received Joseph V. McMullan Award for his efforts for advancing the knowledge and appreciation of Oriental rugs and textiles. In 2019 R. John Howe was celebrated by The Textile Museum and his documention of a large number of the former Rug & Textile Appreciation Morning programs from 2007-2019 are documented on the Textile Museum’s website.
Several of his texts has been published by Jozan Magazine, and among them a review of the 13th International Conference on Oriental Carpets in Washington DC.
R. John Howe passed away on 17 May 2024.
