Chahar Mahal Va Bakhtiari – Meeting in the Danish Rug Society

The Danish Rug Society’s recent meeting 28 March 2019 was inspired by late Peter Willborgs interest for Persian nomadic rugs and especially his book Chahar Mahal va Bakhtiari, Workshop and Nomadic Rugs of Western Persia.

One example of the ritual aspect of worship in art is provided by the making of special carpets or embroidered coverlets for the namaz – the praise to Allah five times per day.

ICOC Dealers Fair – more rugs

ICOC XXII in Stockholm included a fair with internationally well known dealers and many of the exhibited rugs where outstanding examples of Oriental rug art.

ICOC exhibitions of privately owned carpets

Gunnar Nilsson AKREP, Claes-Göran Swahn Pazyryk and Jan Andersen Danish Rug Society at the exhibition of Oriental Carpets in Swedish Collections.

ICOC Stockholm included three exhibitions of privately owned rugs and textiles. An exhibition of 10 Turkmen rugs and textiles of the Eagle Göl group I, II and III, an exhibition of 37 Oriental carpets from Swedish collections and an exhibition of 43 Scandinavian textiles.
