Safavid carpets – Iran Carpet Museums 40th anniversary

Iran Carpet Museum in Tehran, founded in 1976, has been celebrating it’s 40th anniversary 14 February 2018. A special exhibition of forty Safavid carpets has been a part of the celebration and Manouchehr Haghighat, a Tehran carpet dealer, has provided Jozan Magazine with photos and information from the event. Polonaise carpet exhibition at Iran Carpet Museum

Polonaise carpet, arabesque design, silk and cotton & silver thread, 17th century, Isfahan, 140 * 205 cm, asymmetrical knot, 55 knot per 6.5 cm.

A special exhibition of seven Polonaise carpets at The Carpet Museum of Iran opened 21 September 2012 and will run through 21 October 2012. The Polonaise carpets, also called the Polish carpets, were made in Isfahan in the late 16th and 17th centuries.
