On 1 October 2015 at 10.00 am Sotheby’s will hold an auction ‘Carpets and Textiles from Distinguished Collections’ in New York. The 194 lots include a carefully selected group of antique rugs, carpets and textiles from private collections. The selection include tribal and city rugs from the 19th century as well as a number of rare classical weavings from the Safavid and Ottoman eras.
One of the highlights include a ‘Polonaise’ silk and metal-thread rug, lot , previously from the estate of King Umberto II of Italy with an estimate of 800,000-1,200,000 USD.
Sotheby’s exhibition is open for the public from Friday 25 September through Wednesday 30 September.
