Sothebys auction 11 October including rugs and carpets

Sothebys auction “English and European Decorative Arts” 11 October 2012 in New York includes, despite the title, both Oriental and European rugs and carpets. Some 36 of the 476 objects in this auction are carpet lots. These are sold in the first session of this auction which starts at 10:00 AM.

The preview exhibition in New York is open Saturday 6 October 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Sunday 07 October 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Monday 08 October 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Tuesday 09 October 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Wednesday 10 October 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

The selection includes Persian, Chinese, Indian, French, Spanish, and Irish carpets. A single German hooked carpet is also present. Most of the offered carpets are Persian.

Lot 207. A KILLYBEGS CARPET, IRELAND Estimate: 7,000 - 10,000 USD. Approximately 16ft. by 14ft. 6in. (4.88 by 4.42m.) circa 1900
Lot 208. A SPANISH CARPET. Estimate 5,000 - 7,000 USD. Approximately 15ft. 5in. by 12ft. 7in. (4.70 by 3.84m.) circa 1900
Lot 216. AN ISPHAHAN CARPET, CENTRAL PERSIA Estimate: 10,000 - 15,000 USD. Approximately 15ft. 7in. by 11ft. 4in. (4.75 by 3.45m.) circa 1920
