Sothebys auction “Important English and European Furniture” including carpets will take place 26 October 2012 in New York.

This auction includes 35 carpets, rugs, kilims and tapestries. The preview exhibition is open for the public from Saturday 20 October through Thursday 25 October. The auction itself starts 26 October 2012 at 10:00 am.

Among the highlights in this auction is a rare circa 1920 Kum Kapi prayer rug by the master-weaver Avedis Tamishjian. The estimate for this small (127 x 89 cm) Anatolian treasure, lot 144, is 40.000 – 60.000 $.
