Silk Road Carpet and Kilim Exhibition 2024

A special exhibition ‘Silk Road Carpet and Kilim Exhibition 2024’ has been held in June 2024 in the 13th Seljuk Caravanserai in the town Sultanhani. Sultanhani is located between Aksaray and Konya on the famous Silk Road. The intiative to the exhibition has been taken by the mayor of Sultanhani Fahri Solak who also own a wellknowned and esteemed carpet restoration company. Sultanhani is in general a worldwide center for antique carpet restoration.

The traveling group on the ‘Carpet Study Tour to Western and Central Anatolia’ organized by Stefano Ionescu visited the exhibition 16 June 2024 where the mayor Fahri Solak, welcomed the group.

The Seljuk Caravanserai was renovated and restored in 2017-2019 where Fahri Solak played a major role.

‘The Sultanhani Caravanserai would be perfect venue for at major permanent exhibition of antique Anatolian prayer rugs and I hope some day this will be a reality’ said study tour organizer and author Stefano Ionescu to Jozan Magazine.

Examples of carpets and kilims on display

The exhibitors on the highly interesting exhibition of antique Anatolian carpets and kilims included Fazli Solak, Fahri Solak, Sadettin Ufuklar, Recep Dagli and Mustafa Demiroz.
