Sartirana Textile Show 2007

Category: Fairs and conferences

Alberto Boralevi, antique rug dealer and chair of the ICOC Academic Committee, has since 2005 been the organiser of Sartirana Textile Show. This year the show will take place 6-9 September and 13-16 September 2007 in Sartirana, Italy.

“I am happy to inform you that, following to the many requests received, I have decided to organise Sartirana Textile Show also this year” says Alberto Boralevi to Jozan Magazine.  “It will be held as usual in late Summer, at the beginning of September, during two long weekends: from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th and the following week from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th.  As I have often repeated this is a very friendly and family run exhibition with great flexibility and maximum freedom for everybody. The area is beautiful, prices are very cheap, and dealers consider this event as a working holiday, a relaxing time before the business season starts.  Moreover, this year I have been promised also… a sunny weather!”

Alberto Boralevi continues: “Sartirana Textile Show is becoming a major event in the carpet world: it is a very good chance for dealers to see each other and to meet collectors coming not only from Italy, but from many other European and Non European Countries. The relaxed atmosphere of the old Castle, placed in the middle of nothing, but easily reachable from important cities like Milan, Genoa and Turin, creates the perfect environment, not only for viewing rugs and textiles, but also for talking and learning from each other. In past years we have organised a lecture program on peculiar subjects, usually linked to the special exhibitions we had set up. This year we don’t have such a program, but something more simple and informal. Every day at 5:00 PM we shall meet for not more than half hour, sitting in the courtyard, drinking tea and talking about rug and textile topics.”

When I ask him about special exhibitions at the fair he says: “In the past two years we have organised special exhibitions. This year we want to present Dealer Collections.  We have already three thematic exhibitions planned: one is devoted to Early Anatolian Kilim Fragments from Alberto Boralevi Collection, the second one will be: Suzanis from Ziya Bozoglu Collection and the third one is Cashmire Shawls by Jacqueline de Bolle, who recently had such an exhibition displayed in her Gallery in Antwerp”.

Exhibitors will come from various countries, mainly from Europe – Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Belgium and Holland – but also from Israel, Turkey, Iran and Thailand.

At this moment around 33 dealers have confirmed their participation.
