Grogan & Company has announced a webinar “Qarajeh to Quba : Rugs and Flatweaves from East Azarbayjan and the Transcaucasus” by Raoul (Mike) Tschebull 25 January 2022 at 12 noon.

In his talk Raoul Tschebull will discuss his most recent book Qarajeh to Quba and will focus on the production of the book as well as the 19th-century evolution of Transcaucasian rugs and textiles weavings from the province of East Azarbayjan in northwest Iran. The author’s photographs of rural East Azarbayjan will illustrate the history of these rugs and textiles including their creation, domestic use, and export. The talk will run approximately 40 minutes with a brief Q&A opportunity to follow.

Raoul Tschebull is a frequent speaker at conferences and symposia and has an extensive record of writing in the field of oriental carpets. He is best known for the iconic Finch College Museum of Art exhibition catalogue Kazak : Carpets of the Caucasus (1971) and his most recent publication Qarajeh to Quba (2019) on which this talk will be based.
