The “Carpet Diem” series at Munich’s Museum Fünf Kontinente is a well-established forum for collectors and enthusiasts of textiles and carpets. Held quarterly since 2012, these events delve into current research and appreciation of artworks. Each session features discussions on various textiles from around the world, covering their history, dyeing, weaving, and knotting techniques, as well as their intricate ornaments and practical uses. The lectures are generally held in German with a few exceptions held in English.

Guest speakers contribute to these conversations, and participants have the opportunity to learn directly from original pieces in the museum’s collection and from items brought in by private collectors during “Show & Tell” segments. The events typically take place on a Sunday at 4 PM in the first month of each quarter.
