Results – Dorotheum carpet sale

Dorotheum’s auction “Oriental Carpets, Textiles and Tapestry” took place 26 September 2012 in Vienna. Some 100 lots were sold and the total sale was approximately 480.000 Euro.

Ten carpets and textiles fetched prices above 10.000 euro. Among them three Flemish and French tapestries (lot 19, 98, 45), three large Kashan carpets (lot 2, 136, 166), a large mid 20th century Qum silk carpet (lot 92), a Ningxia silk carpet (lot 47), a Caucasian Bordjalou (lot 97) and an extremely long Qashqai kilim (lot 142).

A 19th century 250 x 170 cm Ningxia silk carpet (lot 47) was sold for 14.940 euro. The estimate was 13.000 – 15.000 euro.
A mid 19th century Caucasian Bordjalou 265 x 147 cm (lot 47) was sold for 16.160 euro. The estimate was 9.000 – 12.00 euro.
Detail of an early 20th century Qashqai kilim 900 x 155 cm (lot 142). This enormous kilim was sold for 10.625 euro compared with an estimate of 10.000 – 12.000 euro.
A Kashan 415 x 316 cm, circa 1940 (lot 166) was sold for 16.160 euro compared with an estimate of 10.000 – 12.000 euro.
