Christies spring sale ‘Oriental Rug & Carpets’ 8 April 2014 in King Street, London, achieved a total sale of £ 3,861,125 including buyers premium. The top lot in this auction was lot 20, an early 16th century Mamluk carpet ‘The Baillet-Latour Mamluk Carpet’, which realized a price of £ 782,500.
Another 16th century carpet from Egypt, lot 22, ‘The Dirksen Cairene Carpet’ realized a price of £ 482,500. Two more carpets, lot 123, a silk Kashgar fragmentary carpet and lot 84, a Kirman vase carpet achieved prices above £ 200,000.
