The next ICOC is expected to take place in Northern Italy, in the regions of Lombardy and Piedmont, in 2027.

Alberto Boralevi, Chair of ICOC’s Academic Committee and antique rug and textile dealer located in Florence, is researching and organizing the possibilities for the conference and events connected with the ICOC program.

Peter Bichler, Chair of ICOC’s International Committee, has recently been in Italy and was highly impressed by the new MITA Museum in Brescia which houses the Zaleski Carpet Collection. “This museum should definitely be earmarked for a future ICOC Northern Italy” said Peter Bichler.

“The destination of Northern Italy would indeed be the perfect location to celebrate the 50th anniversery of the ICOC.  The high density of superb collections, museums and dealers in this region are rarely found anywhere else in the world. However, as the Winter Olympic Games will take place in Milano and Cortina  in 2026, it would indeed be a logistical nightmare to run an ICOC including  Milano, Torino and Brescia that year. For this reason it is most likely that we will be obliged to focus on 2027 for this ICOC event” said Peter Bichler.
