Reinhard Blanck and Stefan Dobadka have been collecting rugs from Central Asia for more than 25 years. They have specialized to the items made by Uzbeks, Kyrgyz and Karakalpaks.

A great part of their items were brought to Afghanistan during and after the Russian revolution by moving nomads and was later sold to Europe because the war in Afghanistan.

A major part of their collection is devoted to the so-called “napramach” (or napramatsch), a small knotted rug.

The napramach is a tent bag with a knotted front and two (sometimes partly) knotted sides, whereas the bottom and back of it are of a simple woven cloth.
