Dervis Hotel in Konya is run by Muammer Ucar, a Turkish carpet dealer from the Ucar family, who is internationally well-known for their use of excellent natural dyes in their kilim production. This hotel, established in a 200-year-old renovated Ottoman house, is located in city centre of Konya nearby the city’s most famous tourist attraction the Mevlana Museum.
And of course the use of carpets and kilims has been an important part of the hotel’s very tasteful and charming interior decoration. But the charming renovated Ottoman house is the not the only reason for visiting Dervis Hotel. Muammer Ucar is also an excellent ambassador for the traditional Turkish hospitality and helpfulness, which has done Turkey to such a popular destination for travelers.
Jozan Magazine has asked Muammer Ucar about business at this moment. “We are ok and busy with the hotel. There is a demand for new kilims, we do some restorations, normal rug business is slow though still running but antique rug business is very slow” says Muammer Ucar.
