The first International conference on Kyrgyz carpets and textiles will be in September 2002 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.The speakers will present research papers on the Kyrgyz people and their weaving culture throughout history. See the full speaker list.
On the day of arrival August 31. visitors can attend the opening of a special exhibition of Kyrgyz carpets, felts, reed screens and textiles.
On the first day of the conference September 1., selected speakers will participate in a single session that begins in the morning.On the second day of the conference September 2. speakers will present papers and participate in the discussion panel. The afternoon will be spent visiting museums and the famous Osh Bazaar.Post conference tours:
NOMADS & SILK ROAD September 3-8. – Discover Unknown Land Kyrgyzstan. Tour to northern Kyrgyzstan, Issy Kol lake, Cholpan Ata, Karakol, Naryn, Tashrabat, Bishkek.
CITIES & SILK ROAD September 8-14. – Discover Ancient Architecture of Central Asia. Tour to Uzbekistan Tashkent and ancient cities Khiva, Buhara and Samarkand, after Kyrgyzstan post conference tour. This is optional.
