Grogan and Company will hold their “Fine Rugs & Carpets Auction” Sunday 31 January 2021 at 11.00 pm in Boston. The Fine Rugs & Carpets Auction features a selection of 170 rugs and carpets, and among them rugs from The James Opie Collection.
Among the offers of 65 rugs from The James Opie Collection are ivory field Shekarlu rugs, Khamseh Confederacy bird rugs, rare south Persian tiger rugs as well as numerous south Persian bags and bag faces. Another 100 rugs surround the Opie Collection, and among them a rare Salor chuval. The auction also includes fine Bidjar and other Persian rugs, sold to Boston area collectors by the late John Collins, as well as Caucasian and Anatolian pieces.
