The program for The Textile Museum’s “Rug and Textile Appreciation Morning” includes a session titled “From the Bosporus to Samarkand: Flat-Woven Rugs” on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. (Timezone conversion)
This session revisits important exhibitions in The Textile Museum’s history. The 1969 exhibition and the accompanying catalog, From the Bosporus to Samarkand: Flat-Woven Rugs, introduced the international rug and textile community to flat-woven rugs that had previously been unknown in the West.
Wendel Swan, Chair of the Executive Committee of ICOC and a frequent lecturer, will share exciting stories about the organizers, collectors, dealers, and publishers who contributed to the success of this landmark exhibition.
The “Rug and Textile Appreciation Morning” on February 22 at The Textile Museum at George Washington University is open to the public for both in-person and virtual attendance.
Registration is required for both in-person and virtual participation.
