Christies next specialist carpet auction “Oriental Rugs and Carpets” will take place Tuesday 2 October 2012 at 11am in King Street, London. Christies London branch holds twice a year such specialized carpet auctions.
Christies auction includes 161 lots, and their viewing exhibition in King Street is open Friday 28 September 9am – 4.30pm, Saturday-Sunday 29-30 September 12pm – 5pm and Monday 1 October 9am – 4.30pm.
As expected this Christies auction includes rare and very old Persian and Anatolian carpets together with other high priced rugs, so this auction is hardly for the common collector. A more than 500 years old Malmuk carpet is also a part of the offers and expect to pay around 600.000 – 800.000 GBP for this piece.
