Carpets, Rugs and Textiles at Netherhampton Salerooms

Netherhampton Salerooms will have their next specialist auction “Carpets, Rugs and Textiles” 6 December 2012 at 11am in Netherhampton, Salisbury. This auction includes 564 lots including a small private library of books and catalogues relating mostly to carpets, rugs and textiles.

Viewing Monday 3 december 10am-5pm, Tuesday 4 December 10am-5pm, Wednesday 5 December 8.30am-4pm and morning of sale 6 December 8.30-10.30am. The carpet stacks will be turned each view day at 1pm and on the morning of sale 9am.

Among the carpets is a remarkable 1900-1920 Malayer rug, lot 1514, estimated to £3000-3500. “This Malayer rug, with its thick velvety pile of the highest quality wool, is one of the most exceptional Malayer rugs we have encountered” said June Barrett to Jozan Magazine.

Lot 1979B. An Yomut Turkmen asmalyk, Turkmenistan second half 19th century, 0.69m. x 1.07m. Estimate £800-1200

Lot 1979C. An Yomut Turkmen ok-bash, Turkmenistan or Afghanistan 19th century, overall (open) 0.64m. x 0.585m. Esimate £500-700

Lot 2016. A Caucasian sileh, probably Kuba region, north east Caucasus early 20th century, 2.51m. x 2.08m. Estimate £2000-3000

Lot 2020. A Chelaberd rug, Karabakh, south west Caucasus third quarter 19th century, 2.03m. x 1.40m. Estimate £1000-2000

Lot 2103. A Bakhshaish long rug, north west Persia, early 20th century, 3.17m. x 1.42m. Estimate £1200-1500
