Sotheby’s auction ‘Important English and European Decorative Arts’ Wednesday 24 April 2013 at 10am in New York comprises 28 antique and decorative rugs and carpets.

Sotheby’s preview exhibition at 1334 York Avenue will be open for the public Saturday 20 April 10 am – 5 pm, Sunday 21 April 1 pm – 5 pm, Monday 22 April 10 am – 5 pm and Tuesday 23 April 10 am – 1 pm.

Among the offers are antique and semi-antique Persian, Anatolian and Indian workshop carpets and two antique Caucasian rugs.

Lot 223, a Karagashli rug, Northeast Caucasus ca. 1875. Estimate 15,000 – 20,000 USD. Size 7ft. 3in. by 4ft. 4in. (2.21 by 1.32m.)
Lot 225, an Avedis Tamishjian Kum Kapi silk and metal thread rug, Istanbul circa 1920. Size approximately 6ft. 8in. by 4ft. 8in. (2.03 by 1.42m.). Estimate 25,000 – 35,000 USD
Lot 226, a late 19th century Lavar Kirman prayer rug. Size 6ft. 7in. by 4ft. 2in. (2.01 by 1.27m.) Estimate 5,000 – 7,000 USD
Lot 228, a circa 1910 Dabir Kashan carpet. Size approximately 14ft. by 10ft. 2in. (4.27 by 3.10m.) Estimate 14,000 – 18,000 USD
