In the opening lecture Dr. Felix Elwert,  Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will hold a speach Ladakh: Textile Traditions West of Tibet.

Ladakh, in the Indian Himalayas, is home to a Buddhist culture fast crumbling in Tibet and is often studied as a window into the Tibetan past.  This talk follows Dr. Elwert’s journey across mountains to remote villages in order to study Ladakhi textiles in their native places.
