Sartirana Textile Show 8th-11th September

Press release from Alberto Boralevi:

Dear Rug Friend,
Do you remember Sartirana Castle in Italy?

In 1991 Between Warp & Weft was organised there. It was the first just Textile Antique's Fair ever held in Italy and it was then repeated three times. After fourteen years we have decided to try it again, looking for a Renaissance of antique rugs and textiles culture and market.
Sartirana Textile Show is a new Dealers Fair, originally imagined by Alfio Nicolosi, with Edoardo Concaro's co-operation and mine. It will be hosted again by Sartirana Castle, that this year will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its renown Antique's Fair: Mostra Mercato d'Antiquariato. Our Textile Show will be held in the fascinating premises of the Pila, an agricultural-industrial old building that had been originally used for rice manufacturing. Participants are about 40 selected dealers from eleven different countries. They will present the best of their collections and recent acquisitions.
Further information and a virtual catalogue of the Show can be found on the Internet at this address: www.belgioioso.it
Some Collateral Events have been organised besides the Antiques' Fair and the Textile Show:
Special Exhibition of Central Asian Rugs and Textiles, entitled Per Filo e Per Segno, that will present some outstanding Turkmen pieces, together with various interesting pieces of non-Turkmen origin.
Lecture Program with two lectures by non-rug specialists plus an introduction by E.Concaro (all in Italian, unfortunately):
Thursday September 8th, at 5:00 PM,Edoardo Concaro will introduce our topic: Rugs and Textiles from Central Asia.
Thursday September 8th, at 5:30 PM,Anna Casella Paltrinieri, lecturer of Cultural Antropology at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Brescia branch) will talk on: "Riflessioni sul Nomadismo Centroasiatico"
Friday September 9th, at 4:00 PM, Gabriele Rossi Osmida, Archaeologist, Centro Studi e Ricerche Ligabue, will talk on: "Riflessioni sugli elementi decorativi del Turkmenistan in epoca pre e proto-storica.
Textile Show dates are 8th-11th September, but the Antique's Show as well as the greater part of textile dealers will be open also in the following weekend: from September 15th to 18th.
If you wish to participate in this renaissance and live a very stimulating experience…
If you like to see an outstanding display of antique carpets and textiles …
If you crave to relax four days in the peacefulness of Lomellina's countryside with good wine and risotto…
Sartirana Textile Show will be the best place for spending a late Summer weekend.
Looking forward to seeing you among our visitors,
Warmest regards,

Alberto Boralevi
