DESCRIPTION: Milas prayer rug,South Western Anatolia,circa 1880.Dimensions of the piece:4´.9"x3´.9" (145x114 cm).This charming Milas prayer rug has  a red mihrab which floats in an ivory panel full of attractive elements.The center is framed by a beautiful yellow main border filled with interesting multicolor stylized leaves.The ribbon-like red border and the ivory rosette border contrast with the rest of the rug.The narrow multicolor arrow-like border surrounding the red arch blends in quite nicely.The colors are very nice and are from vegetable sources.The rug has a soft handle and the condition is very good except a 10" slit which is not visible from the front.
