DESCRIPTION: Luri carpet,Fars Province,South West Persia,circa 1890.Measurements:8´.7"x5´.4" (262x163 cm).This totally endearing carpet displays ten large human figures dressed like soldiers along with trees in multicolored leaf,all around a central lozenge mosaic medallion.The rosette border quietly embraces the whole.The brocaded end weaves are intact,the wool is of excellent quality and probably comes from flocks maintained by the weaver´s family.The rug is in good condition.
