Kozak rug (27) - Hagop Manoyan Antique Rugs![]() NAME: Kozak rug (27) CATEGORY: Anatolian ORIGIN/TYPE: Kozak AGE CLASSIFICATION: pre-1910 ID(Jozan): no. 96708 DESCRIPTION: Kozak rug from Western Anatolia.These rugs look very much like Bergama rugs which are also from the same region.It is circa 1880,good condition and measures 3´.11"x3´.3" (119x99 cm) The big red medallion is well placed on an abrashed blue field.There is a small center medallion in the middle of the rug and both the red field and blue field have quite a lot of elements and unusual details.The main ivory border is simple but powerful.The two minor borders which are next to the main border are attractive.The narrow red and white barber pole borders are in between the field,main border and minor borders.The rug has its original ends and sides including the kilim finishings.The handle is soft and the small squarish size is very appealing.A nice piece to own and enjoy.
