Khamseh rug (50) - Hagop Manoyan Antique Rugs![]() NAME: Khamseh rug (50) CATEGORY: Persian ORIGIN/TYPE: Khamseh AGE CLASSIFICATION: pre-1910 ID(Jozan): no. 93877 DESCRIPTION: Khamseh rug from South Persia.South Persian weavers wove beautiful tribal and collectible rugs.Khamseh rugs are from that region.The rug is circa 1880,good condition including the full kilim ends.The size is 6´.2"x4´.6" (188x137cm) The rug has three nicely drawn medallions all in ivory color.They have different field designs which is one of the beauty of tribal rugs.The medallions have small red stylized botehs and other elements which are visually fantastic.The main ivory field has an interesting arrow like design,on the other hand the navy field has more traditional Khamseh elements and details.The yellow main border is an attractive and typical Khamseh border design but the two minor borders which are next to the main border aren´t.South Persian rugs have always beautiful finishings and we can see one here which is the red and blue striped kilim ends.The rug is rich in colors and details and all these qualities make this rug a charming example of its type.
