DESCRIPTION circa 1800 losses to sides and ends, foldwear, patches TECHNICAL ANALYSIS Warp: Wool, Z2S, ivory Weft: Wool, Z2S, brown, 2 shoots Pile: Wool, asymmetric knot open to the right Density: 10-11 horizontal, 18-20 vertical Sides: remnants of 2 warp cords, now with later blue wool overcast, incomplete Ends: incomplete Colors: plum-brown, madder red, dark blue, deep blue-green, ivory, natural brown CATALOGUE NOTE The design of this pile bagface is very likely derived from flatwoven pieces, such as a chuval in Eberhart Herrmann, Von Lotto Bis Tekke, München, 1978, no. 68a.
