DESCRIPTION: Afshar salt bag, South East Persia,circa 1900.Measurements of the piece:2´.2"x1´.6" (66x46 cm).Afshar salt bags are very rare especially those in excellent condition.This particular example has a navy center with a big boteh filled with smaller elements.The wide ivory border is decorated with four abrashed red cartouches and filled with multicolor leaves and flowers.The narrow "running dog" and yellow borders are quite appealing.The head of the piece has a star center surrounded with stripes and continuation of the yellow border.The piece is in excellent condition.
