A high piled, extremely heavy village carpet from the coastal region of the Dardanelles, the region between Ezine, Canakkale and Manyas. The composition and individual motifs date back to the Ghirlandaio carpets of the 16th century. The adherence to centuries-old traditions is a particular characteristic of the products of the Bergama region. – This carpet must have been badly damaged, because it has been substantially repiled in several areas, apparently some considerable time ago. Moth damage, small holes and several tears.
