DESCRIPTION OF DESIGN AND HISTORY:
This antique example counts as one of the most interesting and beautiful of known Farahan rugs. It derives its unique colour composition from the emphasis on the lancet leaves of the infinite repeat of the Herati pattern and the small ivory rosette which plays a part in more than one of the interlocking designs. The unusual deep blue field is decorated in shades of ivory, rose, green, blue and dark brown-red.
