DESCRIPTION OF DESIGN AND HISTORY:
Gharajah is a town in Iranian Azerbaijan, near Heriz (between Tabriz and Ahar). Rugs attributed to Gharajah have distinctive hooked hexagon medallions on rugs of a long format. They are single-wefted and use the symmetric knot at densities of about 65 to 130 per square inch on a cotton foundation.
