CONDITION: Pile condition is not perfect. On the Warp and Weft, there is some damage due to the age of this museum piece which cannot be repaired. The owner fixed with gum on the frame to prevent further damage in the future.

DESCRIPTION OF DESIGN & HISTORY :
This carpet is made of silk on silk and has a very holographic texture due to the shimmering silk colours of henna, cream, dark olive, obergine, red dark blue, blue, yellow, dark brown, rose, green and dark green.
An artistic diamond shaped medallion in cream at the center of the carpet is decorated with four trees and tipped by two smaller pendants on top and bottom patterns of roses and palmettes. The fantastc mihrab design of flowers and leaves is considered the most beautiful in prayer rugs. A thin narrow line divides the main panel from the three frames; two minor borders decorated in flowers and palmettes and a central border that show a repetitive design of sheeps being hunted by lions. This piece is definitely worth an investment.
