DESCRIPTION: 0,53 X 0.39. Wool, cotton, and camel. Small wear spots.
This is a truly curious weaving. The iconography is Hunnic rather than Turkic. The motifs would seem to belong to the vestigial remains of the early Hun tribes living far north in the Caucasus such as the Lesghi and Avars rather than to the Turkic design pool one normally encounters in tribal work from Iran. If this piece could speak I'm sure it would have an interesting tale to tell.Additional images
