Sarapi - Tschebull Antique Carpets
AGE CLASSIFICATION: pre-1910
ID(Jozan): no. 98853
DESCRIPTION: Sarapi, 7´5" x 10´2", probably dates to about 1900, when this medallion style was first being used. Woven in one of the villages north of Sarab in northwest Iran. The drawing and colors, especially the very pale green and ice blue, are typical of pre WW 1 carpets from East Azarbayjan. This format for an older Heriz area carpet is unusual. The carpet is complete and in very good condition, original edges, with minor end border restoration.
