DESCRIPTION: Bijar mat, from about 1920, 2’5” x 2’10”, complete, very good condition, cotton warp and weft. Densely knotted, with 250 knots per sq. inch, high quality wool. The roses reflect Qajar influence, with the same motives appearing in Qajar paintings, ceramics, and tilework. Although rugs like this were woven under workshop conditions, they are often irregular in dimension. Hand spun wool and natural dyes. Typical high quality Bijar work.
