Kazak - Robert T. Mosby Inc.

NAME: Kazak
CATEGORY: Caucasian
ORIGIN/TYPE: Kazak
AGE CLASSIFICATION: pre-1910
ID(Jozan): no. 98858
DESCRIPTION: This Kazak measures 4’2” X 7’5”. It is dated 1860 and there is no reason in the world to doubt it. The central motif are botehs in rows of four facing each other, in probably eight different colors such as greens, reds, putty and black etc all on a wonderfully variegated blue ground with a very asymmetrical treatment of teeny symbols such as flower heads, stars and flowering plants enclosed with a tomato red major border with large flower heads in the same colors as mentioned. The minor reciprocal borders are on an ivory ground with a geometric form of a meandering design motif interspersed with eight pointed stars. This rug is absolutely full pile and as far as I am concerned it is in perfect condition. The buyer pays the shipping of $75.00.
