Knotted Cut Pile: Not Just for Carpets!

Sara Lamb
June 23 - 25, 2009 at the Nickle Arts Museum This workshop will explore knotted pile weaving with reknowned
textile artist and instructor, Sara Lamb.
Sara
has taught spinning, weaving and dying around the world. Having
previously taught at Red Deer College and at the Handweavers
Spinners and Dyers of Alberta Conference in Lethbridge, Sara
returns to Alberta this spring with a growing network of students and
friends.
The Nickle Arts Museum is offering Sara’s workshop on
knotted cut pile weaving. This simple technique is behind many of
the Oriental rugs in The Nickle’s collection.
Sara will lead
participants through construction of a simple loom, warping, design
considerations and weaving a small sample.
Held in the Museum, selections from the Nickle’s rug collection will be
available for students to examine and be inspired by. Location and more information:
