Knotted Cut Pile: Not Just for Carpets!

A workshop with Sara Lamb June 23 - 25, 2009 at the Nickle Arts Museum

Sara LampThis workshop will explore knotted pile weaving with reknowned textile artist and instructor, Sara Lamb.

Sara has taught spinning, weaving and dying around the world. Having previously taught at Red Deer College and at the Handweavers Spinners and Dyers of Alberta Conference in Lethbridge, Sara returns to Alberta this spring with a growing network of students and friends.

The Nickle Arts Museum is offering Sara’s workshop on knotted cut pile weaving. This simple technique is behind many of the Oriental rugs in The Nickle’s collection.

Sara will lead participants through construction of a simple loom, warping, design considerations and weaving a small sample. Held in the Museum, selections from the Nickle’s rug collection will be available for students to examine and be inspired by.
