ACOR 2009 has been postponed to a later year
The ACOR Board of Directors has announced that
the 9th American Conference on Oriental Rugs
(ACOR 9), scheduled for April 30 to May 3, 2009, in
St Louis, MO USA, has been postponed to a later
year.
Board President Sharon Fenlon explained: "While
we deplore this decision immensely, it became
apparent in early January that incoming registrations
for both conferees and dealers' fair participants were
falling so short of their predetermined targets that
ACOR could run the risk of not meeting its
contractual agreements with its vendors, making this
postponement inevitable. For those who have
already registered to attend ACOR 9, we sincerely
regret any inconvenience this might cause."
"Despite careful fiscal management on our part," Ms.
Fenlon added, "prevailing market conditions have
forced ACOR to join the wide ranks of volunteer-run,
non-profit organizations severely affected by the
complications of today's economic slowdown.
However please know that ACOR is fully committed
to sustaining the viability of its future conferences,
and we look forward to announcing the next
conference at such time as an economic turnaround
makes the prospect feasible."
ACOR is assuring those already registered that it will
fully reimburse all registration fee and/or dealer fees,
hotel room payments and any other prepaid ACOR
charges either by check or credit card refund by
March 1 if not before. Questions regarding
reimbursement can be addressed to Annie Linville
Grinstead at anniel@cmcglobal.com.
